The Mother of All Cross-training Efforts

Sunday I went kayaking (for the first time) with some friends. We kayaked the Strong River between Mendenhall and D'Lo, and it was supposed to be a 2 or 3 hour cruise. Great fun, but lots of work. Apparently, when the water is low, there is less of a current, which means the paddler has more work to do. Well, the water was very low. I'm not as sore as I thought I'd be, but I slept really, really well Sunday night. If we're only supposed to cross-train for 30 minutes 2 days a week, it's a shame I can't just apply my 6 or so hours from Sunday to cover a bunch of it. I actually skipped my Monday run because I was so exhausted, but plan to do a longer run on Tuesday to get back into the swing. Wow. What a great workout.
